Fortnite Ranked Mode Gets a Major Makeover: Could This Save the Season?
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is a polarizing one. Some players love the high-speed chaos thanks to Nitro Fists and an abundance of vehicles, while others yearn for a more traditional experience and can't wait for the season to end.
Good news for the latter group: Epic Games just announced a significant change for Ranked mode. From July 4 to July 18, during the "All Sweat Summer" event, vehicles, Nitro Fists, and hireable characters are disabled in both Ranked and Zero Build Ranked modes. Hostile characters and bosses (along with their medallions) will still be around, though.
Here’s the official scoop from Epic Games:
“During All Sweat Summer, Ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build will be switching things up a bit! From July 4 to July 18:
- Vehicles and vehicle items are disabled, including Boss Cars.
- Nitro Fists are also disabled.
- Characters are no longer Hireable, but hostile Characters and Bosses (and their Medallions) are still present.”
Will these changes bring back players craving less chaos in Ranked mode? It remains to be seen, but it’s a strategic move by Epic Games. The current season’s vehicle-heavy meta hasn’t been a hit with everyone, often resulting in car-filled endgames. This discontent has even propelled Fortnite Reload past the core Battle Royale mode in popularity.
The All Sweat Summer event also kicks off with new challenges and summer-themed cosmetics up for grabs. Meanwhile, Fortnite Reload offers its own set of challenges, including the chance to unlock the Rezzbrella Glider. And let's not forget, Fortnite Festival Season 4 is still rocking, allowing players to unlock Metallica skins and jam out to new tracks featuring BTS, Gwen Stefani, and Kendrick Lamar.
It’s a summer shake-up, and only time will tell if it’s enough to save the season!
